Congressional Forum

Hello Cheyenne! There has been a lot going on with the Chamber and Cheyenne lately. Most recently, we held our Congressional Forum Luncheon on Friday in the Depot Plaza. The Forum was held in conjunction with the 2008 Rib Fest, and was a great time for all. Starting at 11:30am, our tent began to fill with over 200 of our business and local community members. They came for the opportunity to snack on delicious ribs and coleslaw while listening to our 2008 Congressional House candidates speak. Candidates Cynthia Lummis (R), Gary Trauner (D) and W. David Herbert (L) got better acquainted with voters through a Question and Answer session moderated by our own Chairman of the Board, Rick Schum. The candidates answered questions ranging from local issues, such as how to deal with an aging population, to national concerns on veterans and healthcare. It was an amazing opportunity for voters to hear the candidates speak one-on-one. Often, Wyoming politics don't get the coverage they deserve, and we are glad the Chamber could provide such a forum for our candidates, as well as the community. Despite the chilly weather, the rain held off and the luncheon was a complete success. We took our own poll on who people wanted to vote for after hearing the candidates, and encourage you to join our completely non-partisan poll as well. Thank for everyone's hard work.

Here is a great article from the Casper Start Tribune about the event:
